Buttercups
for Jesus: Reflecting His
Light in Your Life
Laurel Johnson - Midwest Book Review, author of The
Grass Dance and The Alley of Wishes
As the simple buttercup takes time to grow and flourish
before it can reflect the sunlight, so must a Christian grow in Jesus
over time. With sensitivity and grace, Nancy Marie shares her inspiring
journey to Our Lord. Well written and uplifting prose.
Rev. Perry Comer; D.Th; M.Div., Pastor Christ Community
Church, Monroe, NC

From the diary of her own life, Nancy Marie shares a
mandate God is seeking to restore in these last days: Love the Lord, your
God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and
your neighbor as yourself. Let Buttercups for Jesus inspire you
to love God as you never have before, and minister His love in the power
of the Holy Spirit to those He brings across your path each day.

When You Wish Upon A Star
Nancy Mehl - Reviewer/Columnist - MyShelf.com
Paige Brookhart and her two daughters, Becky and Jess,
are running from a
nightmare of abuse. Paige’s husband, Justin, has made their lives
a living
hell for too long. Paige seeks peace, but she’s brought some of
her own
demons with her. When her car breaks down, a man stops to see if he can
help. Paige is instantly drawn to the handsome rancher, Lance Parish.
She
and her daughters go back to Lance’s ranch and are offered a job and a
place
to live. But, Paige’s fears force her to say no. Instead,
she and the
girls end up in a women’s shelter in Denver. Her experience there
starts
her healing process. She also discovers something she never knew.
Justin
married someone else before Paige. Her marriage to him isn’t legal.
Her
growth at the shelter, her parents’ rejection, and the knowledge that
Justin
no longer has a claim on her, brings her a sense of freedom. She
contacts
Lance and accepts the job as his housekeeper. She and the girls
move out to
his ranch in Estes Park. Lance and Paige begin to have deep feelings
for
each other, but ghosts from both their pasts whisper words of warning
to
them that keep them tied in knots of fear.
Although Paige prays that her life with Justin is over, Justin is not
so
forgiving. He is searching for her – with the goal of exacting revenge.
When he finally finds Paige and the girls, the story climbs to a harrowing
climax that ends with a final and fatal finish.
WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR is a beautiful and moving story about the pain
of
abuse and the hope of recovery. Its characters are well defined
and real.
I found myself yelling out loud when Paige and Lance faced Justin’s deadly
anger on the mountain where life and death met in a breathless
confrontation.
This complex and intriguing novel is one of the
best I’ve ever read. Nancy Marie is an accomplished author with
an important story to tell. I recommend it highly.

When
You Wish Upon a Star is a finely balanced novel of intermingled genres.
If you shy away from reading inspirational romance, I strongly recommend
you give this novel a try anyway. Paige and Lance suffer through
a human condition that doesn't differentiate between cultures and religions.
It's not uncommon to have a crisis of faith. It's also not uncommon
to be rocked to your core by the unexpected passing of a loved one.
How we deal with life's cruel arrows is often how our character is formed.
What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger and all that...
Paige
and her young children, Jess and Becky, undergo a beautiful metamorphosis.
From timid hatchlings to confident and happily adjusted individuals, they
thrive and flourish under their own steam. Lance's encouragement
and love makes this an easier journey for them, of course. Ironically,
Lance is crippled by his own demons, so to speak. The torment of
his past has a not-so-gentle hold on him; it lashes out at the most inopportune
moments. Some readers may think five years is a long time to cling
to old grief. I'm of the opinion that grief is ever fresh, dulled
but weeping beneath the surface. I have only the utmost respect
for Paige and Lance as a result. Achingly real characterization
brings their story to life. They manage to overcome shattered dreams
and mangled hearts, to persevere in the wake of utter tragedy.
A
taut, tension-filled plot is surprisingly suspenseful and effective.
When You Wish Upon a Star has a truly dual nature: the developing
love story is sweet and inspirational, whereas the machinations of Paige's
ex-husband are gripping, tense and wholly disturbing. I admit I've
questioned blind faith in the past. I have trouble finding greater
meaning in the things that cause pain to my loved ones and myself.
Hence, I was somewhat baffled -- and yes, envious -- of Paige and Lance's
restored faith. Nancy Marie has exceptional talent, however.
I also need to remark upon the beautifully rendered cover art; it's riveting
to look at. This novel will touch your heart, I guarantee it!
