Paige's life was dismal before she met Justin Brookheart, but after her marriage it turns deadly. Drunk and intent on killing her, Justin attacks her with a Bowie knife. Paige realizes that her husband's abusive nature has turned homicidal. She escapes into the night with her two daughters.
     A new start in Colorado beckons her, but her fears and her inability to trust anyone, including God, hamper her efforts. She stretches herself and aims her wings towards a bright new star on her horizon.
     God, she comes to understand, does not blame her for the abuse she endured. Finally able to forgive herself, she begins to trust and to love. Justin, however, has other plans for Paige and his daughters. When he tracks her down, intent on murdering all three of them, Paige learns exactly how much she has grown and how fully she can trust herself and God.
